Quotes

Sometimes when I consider what tremendous consequences come from little things.... I am tempted to think...there are no little things.  -- Bruce Barton

What is synergy?

Simply defined, it means that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It means that the relationship which the parts have to each other is a part in and of itself. It is not only a part, but the most catalytic, the most empowering, the most unifying, and the most exciting part.

5 elements to create an effective way to clarify and manage expectations

Desired results (not methods) identify what is to be done and when.

Guidelines specify the parameters (principles, policies, etc.) within which results are to be accomplished.

Resources identify the human, financial, technical, or organizational support available to help accomplish the results.

Accountability sets up the standards of performance and the time of evaluation.

Consequences specify -- good and bad, natural and logical -- what does and will happen as a result of the evaluation.

Win-Win

Think Win-Win is the habit of interpersonal leadership.

It involves the exercise of each of the unique human endowments -- self-awareness, imagination, conscience, and independent will -- in our relationships with others. It involves mutual learning, mutual influence, mutual benefits.

It takes great courage as well as consideration to create these mutual benefits, particularly if we're interacting with others who are deeply scripted in win-los.

Coaching

Uniqueness

We use the with things that we already know about because they are unique. Some
things are unique because they are physically or logically unique, for example, the sun, the moon, the horizon, the earth, the north pole, the future, and the past. More frequently, however, we come across things that are unique in a particular context or situation. For example, if there is only one freeway in town, we would always use the because it is unique, even though there has been no previous mention of the
freeway in the conversation. For example,

They live on the other side of the freeway.

If you were in the shower and you heard the telephone ringing, you might call
out, “Can somebody answer the phone?” The word phone has not been previously
mentioned, but in this context the ringing of the phone makes it unique.
If there were a major sporting event taking place, everyone would know what a
speaker meant when he or she said, “Who’s winning the game?” The noun game is
defined by its uniqueness in that context.

The words importance

The words we use to communicate every day are important in every aspect of our lives. From relaxing, to working, to studying, to taking tests, we use words to share with others how we feel, what we think, and why we think that way. Without words, it is difficult to express our ideas to the rest of the world. The more words we know—the larger our vocabulary—the more clearly we can communicate with others. Our vocabularies reveal our knowledge to the world; therefore, a person with a large vocabulary has the advantage  of self-expression.

How to boil and easily peel quail eggs

I keep hearing how hard it is to crack a quail egg and how not worth it they are.  I know most of you already know how to boil and peel a quail egg(or chicken egg for that matter) so that it is easy to peel and it will make it taste better. But some people don't so I'll tell you the secret- that's not really a secret.

Easiest way to cook and peel quail eggs:
Boil water with salt, while water boiling gently drop in eggs,  when water returns to boil turn off heat, cover, and set timer for 17min (21 for chicken eggs just remember incubation days)
when timer rings dump out water and add ice til eggs completely covered
When eggs are nice and cold crack them by rolling them under your palms then then peel come off very easily in one movement(you'll have to practice on one or two to get this down)
The eggs are not rubbery -  very nice texture - no more boiling my eggs til they bounce.

Quails are definately worth it! I keep hearing about how much the grain is, mine eat very little layer, they eattwo day old bread, rice, watermelons everything really, you just have to start them when they young. Everyone has a bakery( they sell two day old bread by the pallets- I throw them in an old freezer) or restaurant or grocery store or old tomatoes or old melons on the vine( they do like mushy things!). Sorry another
